i'm just disinclined to put my name down in a directory where everyone and anyone could read it and start asking for favors. that just becomes a big hassle, not fun in the slightest. besides, you don't know what every other circle member would do with that list in their hands. not everyone here is an altruist, roy.

if he's going to be an advisor again, there needs to be a reason. a reason he can twist to be selfish, so that he doesn't start running away from the job, having to work. Roy isn't his king, and the Circle is no kingdom. he could, if he wanted, guide again - try to make himself accepted, beloved - but the vast amount of effort implied in it means that he wants that reason to hold onto.]
so! before i open myself and my heart for business, so to speak - especially since you said other people have my ability, which kinda renders me extra weight - tell me why you think this will work. why it's for the best, all told, when there's so much left to chance. not from a tactical standpoint, just you.

there is somewhat of a length in time, before roy's response comes through, because he's legitimately thinking about it. considering it carefully, not from a tactical perspective, but from his own. and to a certain extent, merlin is right -- there may be people in this world that use that information for awful reasons, and it's a risk taken if they truly do this, and do it properly.

There are always going to be people who abuse authority, or abuse trust, and kindness, but the good far outweigh the bad. And if I expect people to trust me, I have to trust them in return.

The only thing we can do is keep an eye on each other, and that includes the people who will use this information for the wrong reasons. Making ourselves known that we are there, watching, will have an effect, even if it doesn't feel like it at the time.
